Time for myself

16.3.2018

I love walks through the old streets of the city. You don’t have to travel round the world to see

beautiful sights – it takes a few minutes and you find yourself in amazing places, some of them real

historical treasures…I have some spots, where I can go alone, I think there, and I get there new ideas

for many things…now at the beginning of spring these walks give me new energy…

When my almost adult son went to study in Scotland, I was afraid, I would be here left without

seeing him every day. I was afraid to be here without the every day moments of hearing him opening

the door, throwing his school bag on the floor, or the noise when he opens the fridge. I thought I

would miss the time spending with him, but I figured out later that it was mostly these little things,

those safety little moments of my days…

First I thought I would just somehow always wait till the next time when he comes back home, but

now I understand, I can’t do it like that. I get the idea now- we need to learn how to be alone. – even

without the safety net –without those little things- without the feeling that you function well

because you prepare the lunch box correctly every day. Now, after a while I am learning that this

independence can give you new fuel for your soul- new space in your mind. You can discover things

for yourself you would never be able to see otherwise ( being busy preparing the lunch boxes). Now I

actually enjoy being alone…when I can think about only my things…I enjoy my independence now …I

am learning how to swim…so I go for a walk and I think about myself…about who I am, and what I

still want in life…

And how about you? How do you learn how to swim - are you getting independent..? Are you

discovering things for yourself?
