About Angelina

I had a friend at elementary school-- she was the prettiest girl in our class. It was the classic situation-- the boys were crazy about her and wrote her poems, which she immediately threw in the garbage.

They waited for her outside school on their motorbikes and so on…as you can guess, I was the skinny-looking insignificant child next to her, living a quiet life of a typical pale teenager, receiving poems only in my silly introvert dreams. In fact, I never thought I suffered any kind of psychological trauma from of this; life is what it is. However, it did stay with me. After years, I still noticed I never stopped comparing myself with her. I NEVER thought I was attractive and NEVER took pictures of myself, because I believed I was not worth it. Years later, I had another friend. For some reason she couldn’t find herself a boyfriend, and one day she sighed: “You never had problems like that, you are pretty. Boys were chasing you, I am sure…“ She seriously thinks that? I realized that day that we have ideas which completely dominate our lives, and yet they are only reflections of our point of view. And so I started to try to look at myself differently…less critically…and FINALLY started to see nice things about myself… And that is my message for you today – don’t upset yourself with all kinds of Angelina Jolie-type comparisons…start looking at yourself instead, and see what is pretty about YOU…because there is a lot of it. And forget about that Angelina from the elementary…it feels so nice, believe me no matter how old you are!!! Have a beautiful day!!!
